Vice President of Marketing
Rich joined Do it Best in 2011 as the retail marketing director, where he developed and implemented a number of key new programs and initiatives. Highlights include the incorporation of data to enable marketing with intelligence; a more robust and enhanced customer loyalty program; the introduction of more flexible and customized circular and digital marketing programs, offering contemporary new designs to help drive store traffic for members and strengthen their brand; development of the company’s The Color Bar™ in-store concept; and enhancements to the co-op’s markets to provide a better attendee experience.
Overall, Rich has more than 35 years of experience in the retail, home improvement, and co-op industries. Prior to joining Do it Best in 2011, he served as a senior category manager for Beam Global Spirits and Wine. Before that, he spent more than two decades at another hardware co-op in a variety of roles, including director of retail training, manager of retail development, and supervisor of dealer services.
As the Do it Best vice president of marketing, Rich is responsible for the store design, consumer marketing, and retail programs, along with digital marketing, exclusive brand packaging, member education, markets/expos, and communications activities of the co-op.
Rich is a graduate of Northern Illinois University. He serves as the President of the Do it Best Foundation and has previously served on the board for Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.
